#34

I have a few collections.  Some I’ve been working on for a while and some new.  There are certain things I just love having around and enjoy looking at….  Thought I’d share.
TRUNKS
I love trunks.  I have one for each of the kids that I use as their time capsules.  At each baby shower, I asked family and friends to write ‘letters to the future’ for each baby.  They each dated the letters with the proper time they should be opened.  Most are on their 18th or 16th birthdays, some say 21 years old and some put on your wedding day.  I asked them to write to them as if they knew them at that age…what they think they will be like, what they will be doing at that point and to write about how they know us, what we are like and what the world will be like in that year.  I have not opened a one and am excited for the days I get to read them as well:)  I also saved magazines and news clippings from the years they were born and personal items that I think will be special.

I love gnomes.  I think they are funny.  I have a few around the house and a few in my balcony garden:) They are strange and creepy and crack me up.  People either love them or hate them.  I get a kick out of the responses…

I have always collected hourglasses.  I have them ALL over my house.  I like having little reminders everywhere of time.  They inspire me to get up and do something with my day and that time is moving whether I am or not.  Although, now with kids in the house, there is a CONSTANT reminder!

My recent collections include old cameras, typewriters and globes.

And of course, my house would not be a home without sailboat and ship pieces everywhere!

I have about one hundred books and magazines on almost every surface of my home, at any given moment!!  I LOOOOVE reading.  About anything really.  A good book can put me in a good mood.  And although I have large stacks in waiting, I can’t help myself from buying more.  I also have started reading a lot of farming books…because I must be prepared for when I ‘one day’ get my farm.
