Alright my lovelies!!  We have no more excuses anymore….:)

While searching for farm-ish (yes I know that is not a word) products the other night, I stumbled across an amazing company.

I’m excited to introduce Amber’s Gardens!  Named after her daughter, Connie Henderson (Winner of the National Association of Woman Business Owners) started this clever company.   She makes ready to plant gardens.  Created with children and beginner gardeners in mind, these seed mats take the guesswork out of seed spacing, seed depth and when to plant.  They can even be cut to fit into containers!  You simply lay the mat on bare soil, cover with soil, water and watch it grow!

These are just 3 of the 9 garden kits she has available.  Go check out her website to see all the neat complete garden options she has.   www.ambersgarden.com.  I’m going to for sure try the Pumpkin Patch with my kiddles:)

I am so excited to try this product that I wrote Connie and asked if she would give therantinghousewife readers a sweet discount.  She said yes….so if you are interested in trying this product along with me, we get 20% off!  All you have to do is email all your contact info to customer@ambersgarden.com and they will call you back to process your order over the phone.  Her website is being redone over the next few weeks…when it’s done we might get a coupon code to make it easier.  I will keep you guys updated.

I will follow up with pictures of OUR pumpkin patch.  If you try it out, post pics of yours too:)

Inchin my way closer to being a farmgirl y’all!  What What!

Alrighty so I told you I’d let you in on the companies I love and the ones that are horrible.  So here’s my very first “Skip It At All Costs” review!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me preface.  I am a hand-me-down believer!  The twins used a product, handed it down to their cousin Dash and then he handed it back down to my baby Renn.  If a product is still around in my family and still in working order after our crazies and after being dragged around the country, you know it is worth spending the money on:)

Congratulations to Stroll-Air for being THE WORST STROLLER COMPANY EVER. (In my opinion and apparently many others if you do an internet search).

 Building my junker
Brand New!

Rewind to late 2007….My twins are about to be born and I excitedly purchased my very first twin stroller.  The Stroll Air Double is around $1500!!  Yes- fully loaded strollers are expensive!  And on your first kid you always go with the best:)  It arrived, and my hubs and I excitedly put it together- and man was it beautiful.  It sat in our family room and was an exciting reminder that in a few days we would be the parents of two tiny babies.  I was so thrilled to take the babies out in this amazing stroller.  Everyone asked what kind it was, and I felt so cool!  So imagine my surprise when, crossing a busy LA street, this stroller crumbled on one side and one of my babies rolled out onto the road!!!  I was using it in bassinet mode- where the baby is not buckled in, but laying in it like a bed.  I scooped up my newbie and with my other arm, dragged the broken stroller to the sidewalk praying that the other baby wouldn’t fall out!  (By the way-Doesn’t stuff like this only happen when you are alone and have no help?)  Thank goodness random people decided to take pity and jump out of their cars to help me.

I was a mess!  I called my mom to pick me up crying.  When I got home I called Stroll-Air…No answer. Next day, called 10 times throughout the day…no answer.  I left messages on the machine telling them what had happened and no one called me back!  After three days of calling I emailed.  I FINALLY got a response days later.  They told me to take a picture of the stroller and they would see if it was something they covered.  If it was, I could mail it to them and they would repair it and send it back…..  I sent pictures…nothing.  Meanwhile I am without a stroller.  I was not going to go spent a bunch of money on a second double because I thought-you pay over $1000 for a stupid stroller, that could have killed your child –they will replace it for sure!!  After no response for weeks and no answer, I called and filed a dispute with American Express to get my money back.  The dispute was filed several times.  The first claim was denied because Stroll-Air said that I had never notified them.  Refiled with all the emails attached.  Over one year later I gave up.

Long story short- They are a company out of Canada so American Express could do nothing outside of the US!!!  If I had bought the Stroll-Air from a store here I could have been covered!  I had thought that by buying through a company directly I was being smart….Guess not.

Companies that do not stand behind their products and then can’t be held accountable should be boycotted!!  I lost out on $1500 and used this stupid thing for less than a month.  If I ran that company and heard that a child was harmed, while using it properly mind you, I would have immediately mailed a brand new stroller and had the old one returned postage paid.  Had they done that, I could have sold hundreds of those strollers just by telling moms around the country what a great company they were!

Adding another, PET PEEVE- horrible customer service.  I don’t care how amazing a product is.  If the company is unreachable and unhelpful it is not worth the potential hassle.

Oh well- You live and learn.  I hope by sharing this I save someone who might be thinking of buying this brand!  Don’t do it!!  And tell all your pregnant friends:)

I soon will update with the BEST stroller company EVER (In my opinion)!

Wanted to share an exciting new organization I have just found out about!!

www.theinformationblanket.org

This is simply genius-

It’s one of the many “buy one, give one” type of organizations.  The information blanket is made from a green sensitive 100% double-knit cotton.  It is produced in the USA and printed with non-toxic, water based inks.

The design includes:
-a growth chart with average ranges for 1, 3 and 6 months
-breastfeeding and vaccination frequency
-high temp alert
-doctors appointment reminder
-and a list of illness warning signs

What a great shower gift for a new mommy…while helping a mommy across the world.

Only $40 for the-one for you, one for Uganda blanket.  Or just donate $25 to give one.

Uganda’s infant mortality rate is among the highest in the world, averaging 76.9 deaths per 1000 live births!  The United States rate is 6.3 per 1000 for some comparison.

1.   Okay this is a copied blurb from a jenslist mailing that cracked me up…  You know you live in LA when this is sent to you!

Liposuction models wanted for a clinical study
Liposuction fees reduced by 50%, three areas for $2500.00. You will have your choice of Liposuction techniques. Must be willing to have procedure done by June 30, 2011.

Could I put THAT on my resume?  I am a professional liposuction model.

2.  Found a few plans for my coop.  How many chickens should I start with y’all?
3.  Question-  I have a pool and that completely freaks me out with my kids.  Should I do a gate or a pool cover.  They are so freakin expensive!!!  Any pointers?  Recommend any companies?  And don’t say teach them to swim.  That’s not good enough for me.

4.   I have added my XBOX gamer tag info to the right of my blog.  Yes I am THAT mom.  “Hold on kids, I’ll start dinner in a second…just roastin’ some newbs first.”

Any gamers out there?

Heads up, if losing horribly and being trash talked the whole time would anger you to the point of unfollowing my blog, you never saw this post ;O

Or we can join together and rule the world.

End of 2011=wife, mom, gamer, farmer, rap star
