American Girl Store has a yearly event they call “Dinner With Dad”.  So Jon surprised Saylor yesterday by taking her to this special luncheon!  The store is located in an awesome outdoor shopping center which also has a movie theater.  So Raimy and I rode with them and had a special date of our own.  Before we left, Raimy flew out of the house dressed as Captain America.  Not a rarity…hahaha.  Yes I had already had him dressed as a normal child….. Oh well…go for it Raim.  Wish I could dress as Wonder Woman whenever I felt like it… after all I do feel like her at times… maybe tomorrow…
We went and saw “The Odd Life of Timothy Green”.  I had been told this movie was a little slow but it was the only one he could actually see:)  It ended up being a sweet little treat.  For many reasons this film was super emotional for me…(post to follow).  Raimy cracked up at many parts and he actually understood the story.
The Grove was crowded and Raimy really stood out..hahaha….I now know what it feels like to walk around with a superstar.  Everyone took pictures as he posed like a crime fighter!

  1. So great that you give the kids one on one time!
Saylor is the sweetest in that little watermelon dress, how cute is that!
Raimy cracks me up! You can tell he's not playing–he IS Captain America! (I feel like I should warn you that he may not outgrow the Super Hero streak… When the mood hits, my 17 year old son gets into his lime green morph suit and walks the streets of NYC, hilarious reactions!) So go ahead and get a pair of red boots and a cape and look the part you're playing, Wonder Woman! –Connie

  2. 🙂 I honestly don't think I've read a single post of yours that didn't make me smile. Raimy is such a character, I love it! My 3 old Scott doesn't dress up (yet) but he constantly pretends to be Hulk, while my my 4 year old Amelia is convinced half the time that she's Tinkerbell. I can't help but LOVE this stage and their imaginations! Such great memories you're making!

  3. I love this and I LOVE that you let him go out as Captain America. It's a good reminder to me, who can definitely be a little uptight about that stuff. For as dramatic as Keenan is (super dramatic) he does NOT dress up. Depending on his mood he'll say, "I'm going to be NOTHING for Halloween!" I say, "Well then you can't go trick-or-treating." and he'll respond, "I'll pass out candy with Daddy." He's told me this approx 3 times so far this year, but yesterday he informed me that he is going to be a Star Wars X-Wing Pilot, so we'll see.

  4. I just showed this to the kids and here are their comments:
    Abby: "That is so hillarious!"
Abby: "I wish I could live in California."
Keenan: "Me, too, so I can dress up like Captain America."
I assured him that he can dress up like Cap't America here, too. Glad hegelt I spired.

  5. I love your kids, I love your posts and I love how much you live being a mom. Was lucky enough to spend some time w your hubby and mutual friends of ours in Chicago today. I told him the same things…he showed me the pic you sent of Raimey's drawing of dad on stage. Too cute for words.
