The Beginning

Hello No One, Hopefully soon to be someone who might be interested (other than my mom and sister),

So it’s 1am and I will be awoken at 6:30am by my 8 month old.  I should be sleeping.  Yet I find myself jumping online to start a blog.

“For what?” you might ask.
“For what?” I ask myself.
Oh we already have something in common…friend.

So my name is Haylie and I’m about to celebrate my 10th Anniversary to an amazing hubby.  I have 3 year old twins and like I said before, an 8 month old.  I live in Los Angeles and am 31.

I’m obsessed with products having to do with babies, kids and green living.  Since I roll around lugging a crap load of kids, random people find it compelling to ask me advice on all things baby and mommy:)  I guess the triple stroller gives me street cred.  It’s amazing how fast just being moms can join two strangers!  It’s not uncommon for the convo to jump to vaginal info in less than one minute flat!!  No joke!!  And you know what?  I love it.  You jump past all the crap to the real stuff at lightening speed.  “Hi, I’m dyin here, lucky to be dressed, didn’t brush my hair, my hungry kids are screaming, I wish more than anything I could curl up and sleep for a week straight…how about you?”  Your two warriors, suddenly and if only for a few minutes standing together, united, in the battle.

I love giving advice.  Yes my oldest is not even 4 but dag nabbit I work hard and love sharing my findings.

So here’s the deal….  I need a place to complain about brands I’ve had problems with and praise the ones who have lasted through my kids, the inevitable stories of “the funniest thing my kid did”, and some other random crap.

Hope you can forgive my horrible grammar, run on sentences and my opinions.  But you did just click on TheRantingHousewife so I guess you should expect that!!!!

Please comment if you read.  Let me know if you want me to write about anything in particular.

Alrighty…. For real now….Starting…..

  1. Well, hum… Vaginas, huh? WOW! I love that you started this. It's so refreshing, and invaluable, to know that you're not alone in this game of parenthood isn't it?

I look forward to your wonderful, humorous, sparkling self and your rants. I'm sure that I'll learn a ton!

    Miss you…

  2. I would love to hear about the chairs you have at the table for the kids as I've forgotten the name (again!) and any other awesome finds that you have come across. Also, organic companies and finds are great as well. We use all of our plastic yogurt containers for sprouting seeds. 🙂

    Love you, girl!

  3. Shannon, the chairs are awesome! They are from a company called Argington but were discontinued a while ago. I googled them but couldnt find a company with any left over. In case you wanna search too it is called the Arginton Babylon high chair. Saylor has the pink one and it is so cute:

I did however find a similar chair though. It is the Stokke Trend or Stokke Classic high chair. They are expensive (at $215), but look like they last forever:

These are one of the few chairs I have found that adults can sit in as well. There is nothing worse than having a table full of chairs and no place for any guests to sit after the kids go to bed unless you switch out everything! Love love love my chairs. And I love love love the company! I called Argington almost 2 years into buying mine. The screws had come loose and when I tightened them they stripped and were still loose. Argington had not carried these chairs for a while but immediately sent me out replacement parts for free!

  4. Hey! your hubby tweeted about the blog and he said:

Follow her if u like, and pls let me know if she starts telling u things about me that I wouldnt say in a million years.

So please… say something funny about him! 😉

    Love from Spain!

  5. Haylie,
I am thrilled to find this blog! I found it from a FB post from your hubby. I am a HUGE fan of his! Just saw him a couple weeks ago in Knoxville, 3rd show I've been to, previously saw him in Nashville & St. Pete. (His sister sang back-up, he said it was her first time – pretty cool!) I've been a fan from close to the beginning. He's so talented and I especially love his Bump in the Road album, because of (the music of course!) and the gospel message.
Anyhoo, back to you and your blog! I'm so glad I found it because I hear you on all this stuff! I only have 1 (so far) – he's 2 – but I can so relate to having an almost instant bond with other moms. I love sharing about products, and parenting/survival (!) techniques. I started a blog but I've been horrible about keeping up with it. I just try to remind myself – progress, not perfection.
So, congrats on the blog. Congrats on your three rugrats! And congrats on 10 years of marriage. I look forward to more posts and getting to know you through them.

    Crystal
