Thank you American Express!
So…got the notice that credit card rewards points will be done away with in the new year, so spend them now. Weve never used them. Oops…someone has a swingset headed to them in the mail, and that person is me:) My kids have a tiny empty yard. Now they will have hours of fun and mommy will have quiet time inside to cook!! Happy early birthday to me!! Oh wait…who will hear me singing show tunes at the top of my lungs in my hot stilettos? Maybe I will start webcamin.. because my show tunes are not to be missed. The “I Still Believe” duet with myself from Miss Saigon must be heard…must remember to open windows. Don’t be surprised if I have a record deal by the new year…I hear Randy Jackson lives nearby. Don’t say I didn’t warn you Randy.
I will be flying in a few weeks…yes me on a plane….WITH ALL 3 KIDS!!! Oh dear pashmina!! I can’t keep MYSELF from hysterically crying from fear on a plane, how do I console or even acknowledge another human. I see it now. A row of screaming children and a mom stretched out across the floor heavily sedated. “Ma’am, you need to get out of the walkway, ma’am”. They have to peel me off the floor, at which point, I’m sure I will proceed to ‘drunk girl dance’ and use the nearest seat as a pole. Just planning for the worst…so when I end up say, barfing in a bag the whole way, I’ll think ‘could be worse’ could be humping the flight attendent’s leg.
I’m always a person that goes into situations expecting the worst. That way if it is the worst, you’re not surprised, ‘knew that was coming, oh well’. If it turns out to be good it’s like winning the lottery. ‘Wait what? You do have Red Bulls left in stock in the back?’ By having a negative outlook, I am in turn the happiest person I know!!
So here we are, almost on the eve of a new year! What are your resolutions? Do you even believe in resolutions? I guess if I did I’d be a svelte 80 pounds by now. My resolution is to believe in resolutions! Got me some traditions this New Year…so I did have some follow through in a few areas! Oh me, being my own Tony Robbins. oh oh I have a good one… study up on my grammar skills…. zzzzzzz……oh well….I believed it the moment I typed it!! Sorry, you must continue reading through my butchered version of English. Happy New Year to all and to all a good night;-)
Any New Years Eve traditions you recommend?
Haylie,
Never forget to say I love you, don't go to bed angry, give a hug, do something spontaneous, volunteer your time to the less fortunate, free your life of clutter, pray, make memories, celebrate the good times, process through the bad… Oh wait, you do all of those things already.
Keep on being you, Toots! You're one of the best human beings that I know on the entire planet! I'm proud to call you my friend and miss the heck out of you!
Wishing you, Jon, Raimy, Saylor & Rennix a happy, healthy & prosperous New Year.
xoxo,
Amy
Oh my goodness, you have made my already awesome 52nd birthday even greater! Hysterically laughing right now! I have to go back & read it again! Have a magnificent, joy filled, healthy New Year !!
Not exactly a tradition, but a few years ago my husband and I discovered a game called "The Game of Things". We took it one New Years Eve to a friends house and had an incredibly hilarious evening. Now we are asked to bring that game for every holiday. That, and my Chocolate Cake. : )
P.S. I looked around everywhere and did not see anything about the Membership Rewards points program being cancelled, including on the AMEX website. They have a browser plugin that offers double, triple, quadruple, etc. points for using their card on various sites. Maybe share more details of what you received?
Hi Haylie!
Every year is filled with good/bad, ups/downs–Thanks for being a part of our family's good/ups with your wonderful personality that shines through your blog!
Traditions?
We're non-traditional, consistent only in our inconsistency! Though Time Square is not far from our apartment and we've done the whole ball thing, the last few years the 6 of us have opted to stay home in our PJ's watching the Twilight Zone Marathon, taking advantage of the available laundry machines, and WE DO LAUNDRY! Woo-hoo, we're wild! (Last year I even fell asleep before midnight, HA! Somehow the new year still comes, just a little more gently.)
Resolutions?
If I don't make them, I don't break them 🙂 But I do, and it's always the same one. To be content with the decisions I make, knowing who it is I try to honor when I make them….but maybe I should try the grammar one too!
We wish you and your lovely family a 2012 filled with Health, Happiness and Humor!
Merry New Year!
Connie&Co.
You make me laugh…. Happy New Year!!
You made me laugh out loud! LOVE your sense of humor! Can't wait to see a picture of the new swing set, to see a video of you singing your show tunes. Just love it….
Resolutions, I don't set them but I do like goals. I like small goals, ones that can be actual reached and kept.
One goal I do have is to stay in the moment, not to always to always be thinking of the next thing to do or worrying. But to be listening to my son's awesome giggle or seeing his brown eyes and enjoying every minute. When the tough times come as they always do, to stay in the moment and not pop a cork and calmly deal with the situation and move forward.
Happy New Year to you and your beautiful Family. Thank you for letting our family be apart of yours! Mary Kay 🙂
