#52

On Tuesday we attended a funeral….for little Liam.

I’ve sat down to write this post numerous times and just can’t find the proper words….

I will tell you about some special things that stood out.  Becky (his mama) asked that everyone wear orange and blue.  Blue being his favorite color and orange the color of his hair.  They also released a bunch of orange and blue balloons into the sky.  It was a sight I will never forget.

Please keep the Burditt family in your prayers.  They are such a kind loving family….

No mother should have to know this pain…..

  1. Dear Haylie,

Your posts are in the moment and each speaks to a different part of what it is to be human. We all relate/respond to each post to one degree or another and this one is no different.

Yes, we know pain, but the pain of loosing a child is unimaginable to us. The imagery of the balloons flying to unknown heights is the perfect symbol for the excruciating pain traveling to even greater depths within the soul from such a loss.

Our hearts go out to Becky to you, and to all who knew and loved this precious jewel, Liam,

    Sincerely,
    The Riccis

  2. This is so sad. No mother should ever experience this kind of pain. My mom did and the way I see it is that it is a graceful pain that lets you get through your days but visits you to remind you of the memories.
The pictures of the balloons looks like a parable to me – the lesson being that the children of God all return home to him.
I am so sorry and my heart and prayers are with the Burditt family. God bless you for sharing this.
